International Society of Colo-Proctology (ISCP) - Complicon 2024

International Society of Colo-Proctology (https://www.iscpindia.org/) Complicon is a unique conference platform dedicated exclusively to discussing complications in colo-proctology practice and their management. The inaugural event drew an impressive audience, with over 400 delegates attending in person and more than 1,200 participating online.

Held at the Regenta Hotel in central Nagpur on 18th and 19th May 2024, the conference provided a comprehensive forum for healthcare professionals to share insights, challenges, and innovative solutions in the management of complex medical cases.

Dr. Laxman Salve was invited as a luminary faculty member and speaker. He presented a remarkable case of recurrent rectal prolapse at the conference, showcasing a pioneering approach that highlighted the advancements in minimally invasive surgery.

The patient had been suffering from rectal prolapse since childhood. At the age of 22, the first surgery was performed using Transanal Sacrosuture Rectopexy. However, the procedure failed within a month, and the patient experienced a recurrence of rectal prolapse. Instead of opting for a transabdominal approach, Dr. Laxman decided to repair the condition using a minimally invasive transanal route. He successfully performed corrective surgery through the transanal approach, combining Anterior STARR with Posterior Redo Sacrosuture Rectopexy. The patient recovered well following the redo surgery.

This innovative technique is designed to manage prolapsed rectum through the transanal route, helping to avoid the serious complications that can be associated with transabdominal surgery.
